Lettuce Solagon

The Dutch benchmark for premium red lettuce

Within the professional vegetable market, the "Solagon" variety from Rijk Zwaan stands as a high-performance solution for growers focusing on vibrant market appeal and production consistency. Developed in the Netherlands, this variety was engineered to meet the growing demand for a lettuce that combines striking aesthetics with the robust stress tolerance required for modern greenhouse and open-field cultivation of lettuce.

Agronomic resilience and protection

Rijk Zwaan's reputation in lettuce breeding is built on comprehensive genetic protection, and "Solagon" continues this tradition with a solid immunological foundation. By utilizing this variety, growers can significantly reduce the pressure of chemical crop protection. The variety is characterized by its resistance to:

• Verticillium wilt — ensuring survival in soil-bound systems.
• Lettuce Mosaic Virus (LMV) — protecting crop appearance and health.
• Fusarium wilt — safeguarding the integrity of the root system.
• Cladosporium (leaf spot) — providing critical protection for greenhouse conditions.

Why industry professionals rely on "Solagon"

The standout feature of this variety is its deep, intense red pigmentation, which remains stable even under suboptimal lighting conditions. Unlike many alternatives, "Solagon" maintains its color vibrancy, which is a decisive advantage for retailers where visual quality drives consumer preference. The plant exhibits uniform development, ensuring predictable harvest volumes and ease of labor during collection. The reliability of this Rijk Zwaan variety allows growers to plan production cycles with confidence, minimizing crop losses due to disease or inconsistent coloration.
