Platinas

Platinas lettuce is a mid-season variety of head lettuce of the Iceberg type, developed by the Dutch breeding company Rijk Zwaan for year-round cultivation. It is suitable for growing both in open ground and in greenhouses or under plastic covers. The vegetative period is approximately 75-90 days, ensuring steady growth and adaptation to various climatic conditions. The plant is characterized by high productivity and resistance to powdery mildew and mosaic virus, making it unnecessary to treat it against lettuce aphids.

The head of Platinas lettuce has a flat-round shape and dense structure, light green color, and an average weight of about 500 grams. The variety is distinguished by its mild, almost neutral taste, making it versatile for use in fresh salads and other culinary dishes. Moreover, the lettuce contains a significant amount of beneficial microelements and vitamins, contributing to its nutritional value.

Platinas withstands long-distance transportation without loss of quality, is resistant to hot weather, and can endure minor frosts down to -5 degrees. For successful cultivation, it is recommended to follow basic agronomic practices: timely watering, weed removal, and fertilization. Seeds for seedlings germinate at a temperature of +16 to +17 degrees, facilitating planting and care of the plant.
