Lettuce Robinson

Technological Excellence of Iceberg Variety

The «Robinson» lettuce from the Israeli breeding company Hazera is a balanced instrument for professional vegetable production. The breeding philosophy focuses on stability: this Iceberg type is adapted to demanding growing conditions while maintaining high commercial quality of the head.

Biological Defense and Resistance

A critical node in the engineering of this hybrid is its immune system. Under field conditions, the plant demonstrates high tolerance to a complex of pathogens that often negate the profitability of the lettuce business:

• Downy Mildew: genetic resistance allows for reduced fungicide load, which is critical for the «healthy food» production segment.
• Lettuce Aphids: the dense leaf structure and specific biochemical profile hinder pest colonization.
• Viral Block: Hazera's selection includes protection against common viral mosaics, ensuring uniform harvest and preventing leaf plate deformation.

These parameters reduce production risks, turning «Robinson» into a predictable asset for the agronomist. The average head weight is achieved through a robust root system that efficiently absorbs nutrients, forming a dense, crunchy head with excellent shelf-life characteristics.

Agronomic Features

The maturity period falls within the early-to-mid range, allowing for flexible supply chain planning. The dense structure of the Iceberg type ensures resistance to mechanical damage during transport, preserving its marketability from the field to the supermarket shelf.
