Lettuce Nashun

Stable Lollo Rossa yields with Dutch genetics

When working with Lollo Rossa lettuce, the main headache is post-harvest loss and crop damage. "Nation" from Rijk Zwaan solves this issue through its comprehensive resistance.

Agronomic resistance in the field

The most important factor for an agronomist is avoiding the need to constantly drench the field with fungicides. With "Nation," the situation is much better:

• Disease protection: Resistance to powdery mildew and fusarium wilt is genuinely effective. Even during periods of high humidity, when other varieties start to scorch or yellow, this lettuce maintains its form and color.
• Viral stability: Resistance to Tomato Mosaic Virus and cladosporium reduces the need for additional treatments, which lowers production costs.
• Root system: It demonstrates strong resistance to verticillium wilt, which is critical when growing in areas with intensive rotation where pathogens tend to accumulate in the soil.

Crop characteristics

"Nation" is a classic Lollo Rossa with excellent marketability. The leaves have a rich, vibrant color that does not fade during transport. The plant forms a dense, voluminous head, making harvesting much easier. For the operator, this means less time spent on post-harvest handling: the lettuce leaves the greenhouse ready for packaging, free from damaged lower leaves or fungal damage.

The hybrid handles temperature fluctuations exceptionally well. If you follow the technical guidelines, "Nation" shows a high rate of biomass accumulation, allowing for faster turnaround times between crop cycles.
