Eggplant Bibo

The Dutch standard for white eggplant connoisseurs

In the market for niche vegetable crops, the Bovi hybrid from the Dutch company Enza Limited has rightfully earned its position as the "gold standard." In an era where consumers seek both flavor and visual appeal on the shelf, this snow-white eggplant has become the definitive answer for professional growers aiming for consistent, premium yields.

Agronomic indicators and disease resistance

The primary strength of Bovi lies in its robust genetic resistance to aggressive pathogens. The breeders at Enza Zaden Beheer B.V. have equipped this hybrid with a strong immune system, allowing farmers to significantly minimize fungicide applications. The plant exhibits high tolerance to:

• Tobacco Mosaic Virus (TMV);
• Fusarium Wilt (Fol);
• Various viral complexes affecting solanaceous crops.

Cultivation and market quality

The Bovi hybrid is highly adaptable, performing exceptionally well in both open fields and protected greenhouse environments. The growing period from transplanting to the first harvest spans a comfortable 50-60 days. The oval-shaped fruits, ranging from 12 to 25 cm in length, feature a firm, non-bitter flesh, making them a culinary favorite. With a standard planting density of 20,000-25,000 plants per hectare, Bovi delivers a reliable crop of uniform fruits weighing 300-400 grams, characterized by excellent shelf life and transportability.
