Lettuce NAMUR

Consistent Yields Against Soil-Borne Threats

The «Namur» lettuce variety (Lollo Biondo type) is a strategic choice for commercial farms focused on fresh market production and processing. In regions where soil-borne pathogens are the primary hurdle to profitability, this variety excels due to its robust resistance to Verticillium and Fusarium. This genetic resilience allows growers to mitigate crop loss in intensive rotation cycles while simultaneously reducing the financial burden of chemical fungicide applications.

Field Performance and Commercial Utility

• Plant Morphology: A classic Lollo Biondo structure featuring fine, ruffled leaves that create excellent volume and visual appeal for shelf presentation.
• Production Scheduling: A mid-season maturity profile makes Namur ideal for staggered planting schedules, ensuring steady supply volumes to retail partners throughout the season without significant harvest gaps.
• Market Readiness: The consistent medium head weight ensures efficient handling, boxing, and flow-pack automation, which is critical for streamlining post-harvest logistics.

Investing in Namur is a move toward operational stability. By offloading the pressure of soil-borne vascular diseases to the plant's inherent resistance, agronomists can redirect focus and capital toward precision fertilization and irrigation management. Under standard field conditions, Namur produces uniform rosettes that maintain high turgor pressure during transit, ensuring the quality remains premium until it reaches the end consumer.
