Lettuce Jade

Japanese breeding for professional standards

The «Jade» leaf lettuce from the Japanese company Sakata is the choice for those who value crop stability over experiments. In modern vegetable production, where the pressure of pathogens increases each season, this variety demonstrates a key advantage: high resistance to downy mildew (Bremia lactucae). For farmers, this means predictable fungicide costs and a lower risk of losing marketability during the ripening stage.

Vegetation features and market appearance

Unlike loose leaf varieties, «Jade» forms a dense, well-balanced, medium-sized rosette. This is a critical aspect for transportation and packaging: the leaves are not easily damaged during handling, and the head maintains compactness, allowing for higher planting density without compromising individual plant quality.

• Stability: Sakata’s genetics ensure uniform germination and balanced head development, simplifying harvest planning.
• Immunity: Designed with protection against major races of downy mildew, making it essential for greenhouse production and intensive open-field schemes.
• Gastronomy: The leaf texture remains crisp and succulent, making the product highly sought after by retail chains and restaurants.

«Jade» is ideal for commercial farms aiming for standardized, premium-class produce. It is forgiving of minor technological errors, though it performs best with optimal irrigation and fertilization. This is not a variety that requires constant supervision; it is built to deliver results consistently.
