Lettuce Nika

Engineering approach to the «Nika» selection

Iceberg lettuce requires a genetic material that offers a perfect balance between vegetative speed and physical head integrity. The «Nika» variety from Enza Limited is an example of precise breeding work aimed at stabilizing marketable yield under intensive farming conditions.

Biological protection and pathogen resistance

The fundamental advantage of this hybrid lies in its complex defense against key phytopathogens that limit productivity in open fields. Resistance to Verticillium and Fusarium wilt allows cultivation on soil with high infectious pressure without the risk of premature plantation loss. A critical technical component is the resistance to lettuce mosaic virus, which minimizes the risk of internal leaf necrosis, essential for the marketability of Iceberg lettuce.

Vegetation parameters and rosette formation

The maturity period of 75–85 days positions «Nika» as a mid-season tool for planning continuous harvest schedules. The plant forms a compact, dense, light-green rosette. The technical value of the variety lies in its ability to maintain head uniformity even during temperature fluctuations. The medium weight of the heads ensures excellent transportability and compatibility with automated packaging systems.

• Type: Iceberg.
• Vegetation period: 75–85 days.
• Protection profile: Fusarium, Verticillium, Lettuce Mosaic, Cladosporium.
• Color: Light green.

By selecting Enza Limited genetics, agronomists receive a predictable baseline that minimizes cull rates due to internal physiological disorders, significantly increasing the profitability per hectare.
