Description Lugano
Lugano salad is an early semi-heading type Lollo Bionda variety developed by the Dutch company Rijk Zwaan. It has a vegetative period of about 30-40 days and forms a robust plant with a voluminous rosette of leaves weighing up to 1 kg. The leaves are light green, curly, crisp, and tender in taste, making this variety especially valuable for preparing fresh salads and garnishing dishes.

The Lugano variety is characterized by high resistance to bolting, internal scalding, and vein browning, as well as high immunity to diseases such as downy mildew, powdery mildew, white rot, and septoria. Thanks to these qualities, as well as good transportability and excellent market appearance, this lettuce is widely used in the fresh produce market.

Lugano is versatile in cultivation: it grows successfully both in open ground and in plastic greenhouses, where it can be cultivated year-round. The variety is suitable for various climatic conditions and cultivation methods, including trickle hydroponics. The recommended planting density is 10-13 plants per square meter, ensuring high yields up to 24 tons per hectare.
