Lettuce Krutynskyi

Stability and Resilience in the Lettuce Segment

The «Krutyansky» lettuce variety, developed by the «Mayak» research station of the NAAS of Ukraine, is a testament to the effectiveness of local breeding programs. In the competitive vegetable market, this variety is highly regarded by producers who prioritize predictable yields despite variable climate conditions. It has carved out a niche as an versatile variety suitable for both open-field cultivation and greenhouse production.

A Comprehensive Pathogen Shield

The primary advantage of the «Krutyansky» variety is its robust genetic resistance to pathogens that typically cause significant economic damage to leafy greens. Its natural immunity allows growers to effectively manage the crop with fewer chemical interventions:

• Fungal resilience: High resistance to white rot, gray rot, and powdery mildew.
• Foliar protection: Proven tolerance to downy mildew (peronosporosis).
• Viral defense: Strong resistance to various mosaic viruses, which is crucial for maintaining high-quality, marketable produce.

Operational Flexibility

The core strength of this variety lies in its phenological plasticity. Whether sown for an early, mid-season, or late harvest, «Krutyansky» demonstrates consistent productivity and vigor. This allows commercial growers to establish a continuous supply chain throughout the season without the need to switch between different varieties, simplifying inventory and technological management.

For professional farmers, «Krutyansky» serves as a risk-mitigation tool. By reducing the need for intensive chemical applications, this variety supports sustainable farming practices while maintaining the profitability and quality required by modern distribution channels.
