Lettuce FREZY GRANT

Technical Profile of the "Frezi Grant" Lettuce

The "Frezi Grant" variety, developed by the Gavrish Breeding Firm in collaboration with the Russian Research Institute of Vegetable Breeding and Seed Production (VNIIISSOK) and breeder Dmitry Gladkov, is a leaf-type lettuce engineered for stable, high-volume production. The core of its breeding strategy focuses on optimizing the rosette architecture to facilitate both mechanical and manual harvesting processes.

Morphological Characteristics and Development

• Leaf Structure: The plant develops a compact, ground-hugging rosette. The leaves exhibit a vibrant, intense green color, which is essential for retail presentation and consumer appeal.
• Texture and Durability: The leaf plate is designed to provide high crispness while maintaining structural elasticity. This balance is critical for minimizing mechanical damage during the post-harvest, transportation, and retail handling phases.
• Adaptability: The variety shows consistent growth dynamics in both greenhouse and open-field conditions, serving as a versatile tool for scheduled, continuous production cycles.

Practical Value for Agribusiness

"Frezi Grant" is engineered as a solution for market segments where product uniformity and shelf appeal are primary requirements. The breeding process specifically accounted for intensive cultivation technologies, allowing the variety to maximize nutrient uptake. The absence of excessive bitterness in the aftertaste makes it an ideal choice for the HORECA segment and for use in pre-packaged salad mixes. Optimal biological cycle parameters enable precise yield planning, reducing the risks associated with crop over-maturation in the field.
