Lettuce Explor

Reliable Yields with Proven Disease Resistance

The 'Explor' lettuce variety from Rijk Zwaan is a professional tool designed for growers focused on minimizing risks in leafy green production. Its key strength lies in the balance between high commercial appeal and robust field tolerance, which is essential for intensive, year-round production cycles.

Agronomic Performance and Protection

The primary value 'Explor' brings to a commercial operation is its ability to perform in high-pressure environments. The variety features comprehensive resistance to the most common lettuce pathogens:

• Cladosporium (high resistance level);
• Powdery Mildew (prevents foliage damage and yield loss);
• Cucumber Mosaic Virus (prevents systemic crop infection).

This genetic "shield" allows agronomists to optimize their spray programs, reducing the need for intensive fungicide treatments, lowering production costs, and simplifying compliance with strict quality standards required by retail chains.

Practical Application

Featuring a rich green color and a dense, crisp leaf structure, 'Explor' is highly adaptable to both protected cropping and open-field conditions. It is specifically favored by producers for:

• Supplying retail markets, where uniformity and consistent visual quality are paramount.
• Maintaining a reliable "lettuce conveyor," thanks to its predictable and stable growth cycle.
• Hydroponic and soil-based greenhouse systems, where maintaining leaf integrity and shelf-life until harvest is critical.

Commercial growers choose this variety when they prioritize consistency and need a high-performance hybrid capable of enduring seasonal stressors without sacrificing marketability.
