Kaluga

Kaluga cabbage — a mid-season hybrid of white cabbage, developed by the Dutch company Bejo Zaden. The vegetation period is 120-125 days from seedling transplanting, allowing harvest within relatively short timeframes for late-maturing varieties. The plant is robust, with a well-developed root system, providing resilience to adverse growing conditions such as heat, sharp temperature fluctuations, drought, and heavy rainfall. Kaluga is suitable for both open ground and greenhouse cultivation, demonstrating high adaptability and stable yield.

The heads are round, dense, weighing 2.5 to 3.5 kg, making them attractive for retail and processing. Leaves are dense and green, suitable for fresh consumption, thermal processing, and pickling. The cabbage features excellent market appearance and outstanding taste qualities. Recommended planting density is 40-55 thousand plants per hectare, enabling dense plantings and significantly increasing productivity. Harvest storage duration exceeds 6-8 months, making this hybrid economically advantageous for long-term storage and extended marketing periods.
