Bucephal is an early leaf lettuce variety characterized by a short maturation period: from seedling transplanting to head cutting takes 39-43 days. The plant forms a head with dark green leaves of semi-upright shape, reaching a height of about 32 cm and a diameter up to 40 cm. Leaves have medium or large size, round shape with wavy edges and small frequent incisions on the upper part, and their texture is oily, giving the lettuce a pleasant taste. Head weight ranges from 260 to 380 grams, ensuring good marketability and crop productivity. The variety is distinguished by high resistance to leaf burn, bolting, and powdery mildew, making it suitable for cultivation in various climatic conditions. In the middle belt of Russia, Bucephal can be grown throughout the season, while in the south of the country—in spring, early summer, and autumn. The yield of the variety reaches 4.0-5.9 kg per square meter, indicating its high productivity. Due to its characteristics, lettuce is suitable for obtaining mature heads as well as for harvesting young leaves known as "baby leaves".
