Willow Evangelyna

Crown Architecture and Biological Potential

The 'Evangelina' willow is an Ukrainian-bred hybrid engineered for landscape applications where structural stability and rapid green mass accumulation are paramount. Unlike wild willow species, this hybrid features optimized shoot growth energy, allowing for the formation of dense decorative structures without the common issue of lower-tier foliage loss.

Technical Performance Analysis

• Structural Density: Shortened internodes provide a high branch density. For living fences, this ensures an opaque green barrier even with minimal maintenance cycles.
• Pruning Tolerance: The hybrid exhibits high plasticity in response to mechanical stress. Regular pruning triggers secondary branching without inducing necrosis of the conductive tissues, making it an ideal candidate for topiary and geometric hedge design.
• Root System: A robust anchoring system makes 'Evangelina' a reliable choice for perimeter planting, providing effective windbreak capabilities and soil stabilization.

From a practical application standpoint, 'Evangelina' demonstrates high resilience in moist soil conditions, including zones prone to occasional waterlogging. To achieve a solid 'living wall' effect, a planting density of 3–4 plants per linear meter is recommended, facilitating full canopy closure by the second season following establishment.
