Willow – a decorative deciduous tree that is distinguished by an elegant appearance and picturesque crown shape. Depending on the variety, the height of an adult plant can vary from 1.5 to 20 meters, while the crown shape can be weeping, globular, or spreading. Leaves are narrow, elongated, and light green in the spring-summer period, turning yellowish in autumn. In spring, the tree opens its first flowers – small yellow or silver catkins that appear simultaneously with the emergence of leaves.

Willow is characterized by high frost resistance (from -23 to -30 °C depending on the variety) and good adaptability to different growing conditions. The plant is water-loving but not demanding regarding soil: it suits both wet areas near water bodies and dry places. Due to fast growth and decorativeness, willow is often used for forming living fences, gazebos, and garden compositions.

For planting, it is best to choose spring (March-May) or autumn (September-November). Saplings can be planted year-round at above-freezing temperatures. After planting, the plant requires regular watering, especially in the first years of growth. Care includes shaping and sanitary pruning, early spring fertilization, and preventive spraying to protect against aphids and fungal diseases. Willow is also available as braided trees (Salix viminalis), which can be left in pots or transplanted into the ground; their crown is convenient to trim throughout the entire summer period, and the height of an adult plant is usually from 2 to 4 meters. This option is especially suitable for decorating garden compositions, stone alpine hills, and house entrances.
