Iris VERKHNE-OBSCY

Aesthetics and resilience in one bloom

The «Верхне-Обский» iris from FANTZA is the perfect example of where decorative appeal meets phenomenal resistance to local climate conditions.

Growing experience and maintenance

With a height of 70–90 cm, this plant serves as a great focal point in any landscape. It maintains its vertical stature well even in strong winds, which is critical for our region. Key points to consider when planting:

• Soil Balance: The variety prefers well-drained soil. If you have clay-heavy soil, be sure to add sand during planting to prevent rhizome rot.
• Bloom Time: A 15–20 day flowering period creates a substantial "season" in the garden. The iris doesn't shed its blooms all at once, opening them gradually to keep the flowerbed looking sharp.
• Maintenance: Rhizome division is best done every 3–4 years. The plant responds well to organic fertilizers during the growing season but avoids fresh manure, which can encourage rot.

A practical perspective

«Верхне-Обский» is low-maintenance. After flowering, simply trim the spent stalks while keeping the foliage—it remains decorative until late autumn, maintaining the plant's upright architectural shape. This variety is perfect for mixed borders where uniform height and planting density are required. In terms of garden management, it remains one of the most hassle-free options for both private and public landscaping projects.
