Iris STITCH IN TIME

A commanding accent in your garden

The «Stitch In Time» iris is not just a decorative plant, but a reliable tool for landscape design that requires a solid understanding of perennial maintenance. With flower stalks reaching 90–120 cm in height, this cultivar acts as a dominant structural element in tiered compositions. In practical operation, one must account for the «wind load» on the stems: on open, windy sites, installing supports is recommended to prevent heavy inflorescences from lodging during the peak bloom period.

Agronomy and maintenance essentials

• Planting material: Developed by the Federal Research Center for Horticulture, this Russian-bred cultivar ensures high adaptability to regional climates, though it demands sunny locations protected from water stagnation.
• Color Palette: The striking combination of white and purple petals requires a thoughtful backdrop; the variety looks best against evergreens or formal green lawns.
• Maintenance: Routine care centers on the timely removal of spent flower stalks to maintain the bush's aesthetics and prevent rhizome exhaustion.

The cultivar features a highly predictable growth cycle. Unlike temperamental imported hybrids, «Stitch In Time» demonstrates remarkable vigor when provided with a basic irrigation and fertilization schedule. Its winter hardiness allows for open-ground cultivation without the need for complex protective structures, significantly simplifying the annual garden maintenance cycle.
