Hop PODVYAZNY

Resilient Hops for Reliable Brewing Yields

The 'Podvyazny' hop variety, developed by the N.V. Rudnitsky Federal Agricultural Research Center of the North-East, is engineered for farmers who prioritize consistency and crop stability. Its primary advantage is robust genetic resistance to verticillium wilt and powdery mildew. By effectively mitigating these common threats, the variety allows farms to significantly reduce the intensity of fungicide applications, lowering production costs while maintaining crop health.

Dual-Purpose Brewing Profile

Categorized as a dual-purpose hop with an alpha-acid content ranging from 4% to 6%, 'Podvyazny' is an excellent choice for lager production. Its moderate bitterness profile makes it a versatile tool for brewers looking to achieve a clean, balanced taste in traditional light beers. The hop contributes enough character to be noticeable without overwhelming the delicate profiles required for high-volume lager manufacturing.

Practical Management and Harvesting

• Cultivation Standards: While the variety is highly resistant to major pathogens, maintaining proper plant spacing is essential to ensure adequate airflow within the trellis system.
• Mechanical Efficiency: 'Podvyazny' is well-suited for mechanical harvesting. Proper timing, based on cone density and lupulin maturity, ensures optimal yield quality for industrial processing.
• Storage Stability: Post-harvest stability is a key feature of this variety. It retains its essential chemical characteristics after drying, providing producers with flexibility in storage and market timing.

Integrating 'Podvyazny' into your operation provides a hedge against climate-related risks and pathogen pressure. It is a pragmatic choice for producers focused on delivering high-quality, stable ingredients to the brewing sector with predictable results.
