FORWARD is a variety of hops (Humulus lupulus L.) developed by the FGABNU Federal Agro-Scientific Center of the North-East named after N.V. Rudnitsky. The variety has identifier 9052107 and was approved for use in all regions of the country after registration of application No. 52561 (24 Aug 2009). Plant characteristics include anthocyanin coloring of the main stem of medium intensity, dark green leaves, medium flowering time, and normal growth type. Side shoots form from the middle third of the stem, have medium length, and the number of cones on them is also in the average range.
Cones of the FORWARD variety are of medium size with closed scales and a tip of medium length, reaching a mass of 46.4g for 100 cones. Technical ripening time is average, and raw material yield is about 31 kg/hectare. Chemical composition is characterized by a content of bitter substances 24.8%, alpha acids 4.2%, and tannin (polyphenolic) substances 4.5%. Cone aroma is persistent with a delicate hop scent.
The variety is distinguished by winter hardiness and a vegetation period of about 104 days. According to the applicant's data, FORWARD is resistant to root rots and pseudo-peronosporosis, which makes it suitable for brewing in various climatic conditions. Main application – production of hops for brewing processes where both taste qualities and yield stability are important.
