Hippeastrum ACADEMY

Large-scale Flowering and Robust Growth

The «Akademiya» hippeastrum, developed by the SamNTS RAS and the Ufa Federal Research Center, is a hybrid designed for high-impact ornamental cultivation. With a substantial bulb size of 18–20 cm in diameter, this cultivar possesses the energy reserves required to support large-scale floral displays, either in controlled indoor environments or as a summer crop in open soil.

Practical Cultivation Guidelines

Successful management of «Akademiya» requires careful attention to the structural integrity of the plant. Given that the flowers can reach a diameter of 18–22 cm, the heavy bloom creates significant pressure on the stalk, making support structures a standard requirement in commercial and private setups.

• Blooming Capacity: The hybrid produces 2–4 flowers per stalk, providing a dense and showy appearance. Proper fertilization regimes during the growing phase are essential to maximize this potential.
• Field Performance: During the summer months, outdoor cultivation is highly recommended to allow the bulb to recover and build mass for subsequent seasons.
• Planting Specs: The large bulb size necessitates adequate container depth and diameter, ensuring that the root system has sufficient space to thrive and prevent moisture stagnation.

Choosing «Akademiya» is a strategic move for growers aiming for premium ornamental quality. Its ability to command visual attention makes it an ideal selection for high-end landscape design and cut-flower applications.
