Burshtinova

Burshtinova pear — a late-ripening variety intended for long-term winter storage. Fruits are harvested at technical maturity at the end of September, after which they ripen and acquire a bright yellow-orange color with a rich red blush. The pears are large, of classic shape, slightly ribbed, weighing up to 220 grams. The flesh is light, caramel-colored, aromatic, and has a dessert-like flavor. The skin is thin but tough, and the fruits do not shed and remain firmly attached to the tree. The tree is medium-sized, reaching a height of 4.5–5 meters, and begins to bear fruit on the 5th–6th year after planting. The variety is self-fertile and has late flowering, protecting the flowers from frost and ensuring stable annual yields. The pear tolerates frost and drought well, making it especially popular among gardeners in regions with variable climates. To increase yield, regular pruning of branches is recommended. The Burshtinova pear is well-adapted to various soils, particularly preferring loamy and clay soils. The fruits are versatile in use: they can be eaten fresh, as well as used for making compotes, jams, preserves, and dried fruits. Thanks to their good storability, the pears retain their flavor until early January, allowing enjoyment during the winter period.
