Probus is a grape variety obtained by crossing the Kadarka and Cabernet Sauvignon varieties. It is characterized by early-mid ripening and high yield, reaching up to 80 centners per hectare. The berries are small, round, dark blue in color with a thick waxy bloom, giving them an attractive appearance. The berry pulp is juicy and fleshy, while the skin is dense, which helps maintain the quality of the fruit during harvesting and transportation.
The sugar content of the berry juice varies between 15-27%, and the titratable acidity is from 5 to 12 grams per liter, which ensures a balance of taste and facilitates the production of full-bodied wines. The variety poorly withstands a cool climate, has low frost resistance and fungal diseases, which requires special attention during cultivation and selection of the planting region.
Wines made from the Probus grape variety are characterized by intense color, rich aroma, and full-bodied taste. These characteristics make it attractive for producing quality red wines with a pronounced bouquet and good structure.
