Description PETITE ARVINE
Petite Arvine is a grape variety of ancient origin, cultivated mainly in Switzerland, Italy, and the North Caucasus. The bushes are of medium height, with medium or large, rounded leaves of weakly lobed structure. The clusters are medium-sized, cylinder-conical, and dense, weighing about 200 grams, while the berries are small, round, yellow-green in color with a tan on the sun-exposed side. The berry pulp is juicy and sweet, with no pronounced aroma and a high juice yield. Sugar content in the berries reaches 21.5 g/100 cm³, while acidity is 6.7 g/dm³. The berries typically contain two seeds of medium size. This is a late-ripening variety that prefers calcareous and chalky soils, cannot tolerate wet and heavy soils, drought, and is sensitive to herbicides. Full ripening requires sunny exposure; however, the canes are easily broken by wind, requiring careful tying. The variety yields highly, about 78 centners per hectare, with average resistance to diseases and pests. Petite Arvine is primarily used for the production of technical white wines. Wines from this variety are distinguished by their varietal character, strength, and elegance, possessing a complex and balanced taste with a characteristic saline note in the aftertaste. The aromatic palette includes citrus, pineapple, mango, grapefruit, honey, floral notes of wisteria and chamomile, as well as sometimes mushroom and tropical floral tones. Wines can be dry or liqueur-style and are suitable for consumption both young and after aging, which improves their structure and depth of taste. The Triolet Petite Arvine wine from the Val-d'Aosta region is particularly prized for its deep texture and almost oily mouthfeel, balanced taste with notes of ripe garden fruits and mineral acidity. It is perfect as an aperitif and pairs excellently with seafood dishes and first courses based on cheese. It is recommended to serve at 8-10°C, which allows maximum expression of its aroma and taste, making it the ideal choice for light lunches and friendly gatherings.
