Description Muscadine Pink / Muscat Rose
The Muscat Pink grape variety is a medium-late technical variety with a ripening period from early August to mid-September and a total vegetation period of about 140 days. The vines of this variety are medium-sized, with lush foliage, and the clusters have a cylindrical shape and average weight ranging from 200 to 450 grams. The berries are round, dark red in color, covered with a dense waxy bloom, and have a thin but tough skin. The flesh is juicy and tender, with a distinct muscat aroma, and the sugar content of the juice at maturity reaches 17–25% with acidity of 5–9 g/l. The variety is characterized by moderate yield, ranging from 60 to 80 centners per hectare. Despite its good adaptability to various soil-climate conditions, Muscat Pink has low cold resistance, similar to the original Muscat White variety. It is susceptible to attacks by mildew, oidium, phylloxera, and grape berry moth, requiring careful care and plant protection. The harvest of this grape is widely used for producing branded liqueur muscat wines, such as Southern Coast Muscat Pink, dessert, and Magarach, as well as for making sparkling wine materials and table wines. In addition to winemaking applications, Muscat Pink is valued for its taste qualities and can be consumed fresh. Its distinctive aroma with tea rose notes makes this variety popular among lovers of muscat wines and fresh berries. Due to the combination of decorative and taste qualities, this grape is an attractive choice for growers seeking a high-quality harvest with unique organoleptic characteristics.
