KOKURDES WHITE

Kokurdes White is a Crimean autochthonous variety of grapes with universal purpose, being a natural hybrid between the Asma and Kokur White varieties. The variety is characterized by medium or medium-late ripening and has hermaphroditic flowers. The leaves are large, five-lobed, weakly dissected, and weakly hairy on the underside. The petiole cavity is open, lyre-shaped with a rounded or flat-tipped base. The clusters are large, cylindro-conic or cylindrical, often with a wing, and dense or medium density. The berries are of medium size, weakly oval or oval, white in color with a dense waxy bloom. The skin is of medium thickness, the flesh is fleshy and juicy, and the taste is harmonious. Yield is high, and the vigor of the bushes is medium or above medium. The variety has medium resistance to fungal diseases, in particular to powdery mildew, and is less affected by downy mildew and grape cluster leafroller. Frost resistance is low, but the variety withstands drought well, making it suitable for cultivation in the Crimea. Kokurdes White requires care for the bushes to maintain the health and productivity of the plants. Kokurdes White grapes are used both for the production of white dry wines and for consumption in fresh form. Due to the harmonious taste and fleshy juicy flesh, the berries are suitable for table use and winemaking. Although the variety is not widely spread and is found primarily in collections, it retains its importance as a local Crimean variety with unique characteristics.
