Podmoskovny garlic represents a medium-maturing winter variety with a maturation period of 95-110 days from mass growth to leaf yellowing. Plant leaves reach a length of 35-40 cm and a width of 1-2 cm, have a green color with a strong waxy coating. A characteristic feature of the variety is a flower scape with a bend, up to 80 cm high. The bulb has a round-flat shape, weighs up to 60-80 grams, and consists of 5-7 cloves weighing 9-12 grams each. The dry scales of the bulb are white with brownish-purple strokes, the leather scales are creamy with a purple tint, and the pulp is light cream. The garlic taste is sharp, making it attractive for culinary use.
The Podmoskovny variety is distinguished by high yield, reaching 1.6-1.9 kilograms per square meter, as well as excellent winter hardiness, which allows it to be successfully grown in various climatic conditions. Shelf life of garlic is preserved for up to 6 months, while up to 90% of the crop retains its quality during this period. These characteristics make the variety in demand among gardeners and farmers who value reliability and product quality.
For planting Podmoskovny garlic, it is recommended to choose the period in the second half of September - early October, approximately 1.5 months before the onset of frost. After planting, the soil should be mulched with peat or manure with a layer of 2-3 centimeters, and at the first frosts, garlic can be covered with grass or pine branches to preserve heat. Watering is carried out once a week in the absence of rain, stopping it a few weeks before harvesting the crop, which usually occurs in late July - early August. Such care contributes to obtaining a healthy and quality crop.
