The 'Meliorator' garlic is a selection developed by the Federal Scientific Center for Vegetable Growing (FNCVO), engineered to achieve an optimal balance between bulb weight and commercial shelf life. As a non-bolting variety, Meliorator channels its biological energy directly into bulb development rather than producing a scape, resulting in high-density yields.

Morphology and Weight Characteristics

• Average bulb weight: 80–120 grams. The dense architecture of the bulb ensures a high marketable yield.
• Clove count: 4–6 large cloves per bulb. This composition simplifies processing and makes it highly desirable for both consumer retail and large-scale food production.
• Skin and Tunic: Distinctive white outer scales. The tight layering of these tunics acts as a mechanical barrier against moisture loss and pathogen penetration, which is the primary factor behind its extended shelf life.

The core technical advantage of the Meliorator variety is its exceptional storage capability, maintaining quality for 8–10 months under controlled environmental conditions.
