Southern Night

The eggplant variety "Southern Night" is medium-maturing, with a ripening period from 110 to 138 days. The plant is sprawling, erect, and reaches a height of 60 to 90 cm. The fruits have a cylindrical or elongated pear shape, dark purple glossy color, length of 16-18 cm, diameter of 5-7 cm, and weight from 170 to 220 g. A feature of the fruits is a weakly spiny calyx, and the flesh differs in white color, dense structure, and lack of bitterness.

The variety can be grown under film cover and in greenhouses, and in southern regions, the eggplant is successfully cultivated in open ground by direct sowing in April-May. To obtain seedlings, sowing is carried out at the end of February, followed by pricking out at the cotyledon stage. Seedling planting is done at the end of May. It is recommended to form the plant by removing all side shoots and leaves up to the first fork, which promotes better development and yield.

The variety "Southern Night" is distinguished by high yield - from one plant you can collect from 3 to 6 kg of fruits. Eggplants of this variety are widely used in cooking to prepare various dishes, go well with vegetables and cheese, which makes them a versatile product for home and professional use.
