Mabel

Mabel F1 Eggplant — an early hybrid developed by the Dutch company Enza Zaden, suitable for cultivation both in open ground and under cover. The fruiting period is 55 to 65 days from transplanting, allowing for a stable and early harvest even in regions with short summers. The plant is compact, well-branched, 60 to 100 cm tall, with a strong bush, resistant to stress conditions and tobacco mosaic virus, ensuring reliability and high productivity.

The fruits of the Mabel eggplant have an elongated-cylindrical shape with a characteristic glossy sheen and deep purple, almost black coloration. Fruit length reaches 24–26 cm, diameter — 6–8 cm, and weight varies from 250–450 g depending on growing conditions. The flesh is light cream-colored, dense, uniform, free of bitterness, with a small number of fine seeds, and does not darken after cutting. High content of dry matter (7–10 %) and beneficial microelements makes Mabel eggplants especially valuable for culinary use.

This hybrid is ideal for fresh markets, culinary applications, and canning. The yield is characterized by good transportability and long-term storage without loss of appearance or flavor qualities. Recommended planting density is 30–45 thousand plants per hectare with row spacing of 1.4–1.6 m and plant spacing of 15–22 cm, promoting optimal growth and high yield.
