THE THIEVE SWALLOW

The «Medium-maturing» variety is a large daikon intended for summer sowing. The root crops have a cylindrical shape, snow-white color, and reach a length of up to 60 cm, a diameter of 10–12 cm, with the mass of one root ranging from 1.2 kg to 1.5 kg. The flesh is dense, crunchy, very juicy, and tender; unlike some other varieties, it does not contain pungent mustard oils, which makes the product more pleasant to taste.

The variety is characterized by heat resistance and disease resistance, so it can be used both as fresh produce and for short-term storage. The root crops lift above the soil surface by approximately 2/3 of their height, which significantly facilitates manual harvesting.

Yield ranges from 11 to 15 kg/m². Sowing is carried out in open ground in July at a depth of 1.5–2 cm; seedlings appear just 3–5 days after sowing. Harvesting is done in the second half of September or in October, when the root crops reach optimal size and quality.
