PETROVSKAYA ANNIVERSARY

Petrovskaya Anniversary – a large-seeded lentil variety with a medium-maturing vegetative period of 90–95 days. The seeds have a high protein content (28–29%) and good cooking quality, making them valuable for both flour and grits production. A distinctive feature of the variety is the high placement of lower pods, as well as resistance to lodging, which increases yield under early maturing conditions.

The plant belongs to annual herbaceous legumes. Stem height ranges from 20 to 55 cm, leaves are compound pinnate with 3–8 pairs of narrow leaflets. Flowers are small, white or pink, while fruits are pods with flat or convex seeds of various colors. As a large-seeded variety (seed diameter 5.5–9 mm), it is particularly popular in the food industry and among farmers seeking high-quality grain.

For growing Petrovskaya Anniversary, row sowing with 15 cm interrow spacing is recommended. Fertilizers: phosphorus (40–80 kg/ha P₂O₅) and potassium (60–100 kg/ha K₂O), applied in autumn under autumn plowing or in spring under cultivation; at sowing – granulated superphosphate. The plant adapts well to chernozems but does not tolerate heavy acidic and saline soils. Harvesting begins when pods in the lower and middle parts of the plant have matured; seeds of upper pods are usually left until full maturity. The variety can be used as a grain crop and as a vegetable – immature seeds are considered especially tasty.

Petrovskaya Anniversary is a valuable predecessor for subsequent crops due to nitrogen fixation, as well as ensuring good soil structure. Grain yield is 15–25 c/ha, making it a competitive choice for both food needs and feed base.
