Daiikon «Dragon» is a mid-season root crop variety with excellent yield and high fruit quality. The vegetative period is 50–60 days, which allows for quick harvest in both open ground and greenhouses. Plants have a semi-erect rosette height of 25–30 cm; leaves are light green, odd-pinnate, and slightly drooping.
The «Dragon» variety root crops are white in color, elongated-conical shape with a smooth surface. Fruit length reaches 45 cm, mass – from 250 to 400 g. While growing, the root remains submerged in the soil for one-third of its length, which facilitates harvesting and preserves juiciness.
Soft, dense, and crunchy flesh has a sweet, refreshing taste without sharp spiciness. Due to high juiciness, fruits are suitable for fresh consumption, preparing pickled dishes, and boiling. Additionally, «Dragon» root crops are widely used in folk medicine: they are considered beneficial for colds, liver and kidney diseases, and contribute to hair strengthening.
The variety was bred in 1998 and recommended for growing both in open ground and greenhouses. Its moderate aroma and excellent taste qualities make it a popular choice among gardeners and farmers.
