NILGA

The NILGA currant variety consists of a vigorous bush with a moderately spreading canopy, reaching a height of about 1.6 meters and a diameter of up to 2.3 meters. The berries of this variety are large or medium-sized, black in color with a slight matte luster. The average berry weight is approximately 1.2 grams, while the maximum reaches up to 2 grams. The skin of the fruits is of medium thickness, ensuring medium transportability; meanwhile, ripe berries do not shed easily, which facilitates harvest collection and reduces losses.

The main advantage of the NILGA variety is its taste: the berries possess a very harmonious and sweet flavor, making them particularly attractive for fresh consumption. Berry maturation occurs in medium-term periods, and the bush's self-fertility reaches up to 38%, affecting harvest stability. Average yield is about 4.2 kilograms per bush, while under favorable conditions, the maximum can reach 6.1 kilograms.

The variety is characterized by high resistance to pests such as bud mites and gall aphids, as well as weak susceptibility to spotting diseases, which enhances its longevity and reduces the need for intensive plant protection. Thanks to these qualities and the excellent berry taste, NILGA is recommended for growing in home gardens as a reliable and dessert currant variety.
