Black currant variety VYMEPEL is a high-yielding mid-season variety bred at the Sverdlovsk Research Station of Horticulture. This variety was created by crossing hybrids Leningrad Giant and Minaй Shmyrev with the variety Valovaya. VYMEPEL bushes are semi-spreading, with thick, straight, non-pubescent shoots of grayish hue, as well as large green leaves. The plant differs in a vigorous growth type and high winter hardiness, as well as resistance to powdery mildew and bud mite, making it a reliable choice for various climatic conditions. However, the variety may be susceptible to damage from bud moth.

VYMEPEL berries have a round shape, black color, and relatively uniform size; the average fruit mass is about 1.3 g, maximum - up to 4 g. The skin and pulp of the berries are very tender, which gives them a dessert taste with a refreshing aroma. The fruits contain about 9.1% sugars, 2.0% acids, and a high amount of vitamin C - 260 mg per 100 g, which ensures high nutritional value and useful properties. The sugar-acid index is approximately 4.6, which indicates a harmonious taste balance.

The VYMEPEL variety is recommended for both amateur gardening and industrial cultivation for the purpose of obtaining fresh berries and processing. The variety yield is high - up to 180 centners per hectare, which makes it attractive for commercial use.
