Black currant of the TIKZO variety is a high-growing bush with a moderately spreading crown, reaching a height of up to 1.7 meters. This variety was bred at the Bakcharsky Support Point of Northern Horticulture, M.A. Lisavenko Siberian Horticulture Research Institute, and was included in the State Register of Russia in 2019. Berry ripening occurs at an average term, with an extended ripening period that falls in late July to early August. Bushes are recommended to be planted in well-lit areas with loamy, fertile, and fresh soils provided with good drainage. TIKZO variety berries are large, black in color with a matte surface; the average fruit mass is about 2 grams, with a maximum of up to 3.4 grams. The fruits have an oval shape and a sour-sweet taste, making them attractive to consumers. The berry skin is thin, which reduces their transportability, so the variety is better suited for direct consumption or processing. The yield from one bush can reach 6.5 kilograms, which is a good indicator for this type. The TIKZO variety is distinguished by high winter hardiness and resistance to main pests and diseases, such as gall aphid, powdery mildew, and bud mite. These qualities make it a reliable choice for growing in northern and temperate climate zones. Due to its characteristics and hardiness, black currant TIKZO is suitable for both private gardeners and commercial cultivation.
