MELUZIN

MELUZIN is a single-seed diploid hybrid of sugar beet (Beta vulgaris L. ssp. vulgaris var. saccharifera Alef.), created on a sterile type Z basis. The hybrid belongs to the mid-season group and is recommended for cultivation in the Central-Black Earth region, as well as in the Voronezh, Kursk, and Lipetsk regions. It is characterized by high yield and high sugar content in the roots, which makes it attractive for industrial sugar production. The average root mass is about 515–562 grams, and the sugar content varies from 17.2% to 19%, which ensures a high sugar harvest per hectare exceeding the indicators of standard varieties.

The plant has a medium-sized leaf rosette with dark green leaves of an open form. The root is oval-conical in shape with a soil embedding of approximately 85%. The hybrid is characterized by drought, cooling, and flowerlessness resistance, and also possesses good storability, which facilitates storage and transport of the harvest. Under field conditions, a medium level of powdery mildew, root eelworm, and cercosporosis infection is noted, while in some regions weak root rot infections were observed.

MELUZIN is recommended for medium harvesting periods and is suitable for cultivation in various climatic conditions of the Central-Black Earth and Ural regions. Its high adaptability and stable yield indicators make this hybrid a profitable choice for agricultural producers seeking to obtain a high-quality and high-sugar sugar beet crop.
