MS 002 is a sugar beet variety with high specificity of the genotype's reaction to growing conditions, which affects sugar content and sugar yield. Research has revealed a significant role of the genotype in forming yield traits, allowing this variety to be used in creating simple sterile hybrids as female components. This makes MS 002 a promising material for breeding and improving sugar beet production efficiency.
The sugar beet MS 002 requires careful provision of nutrients, especially phosphorus, potassium, boron, zinc, and manganese. To achieve a high yield, it is important to stimulate the development of rootstocks and foliage and ensure resistance to stress conditions. The use of specialized fertilizers with microelements helps preserve nutrient reserves and accelerates the growth of seedlings, which positively affects overall growth and photosynthetic activity of the plant.
This variety is heat-loving and heat-tolerant; the optimal temperature for its growth is 20-22°C, but photosynthesis continues effectively even at temperatures above 40°C. MS 002 is very water-demanding, especially during the intensive growth of rootstocks in July-August. Thanks to a developed root system capable of absorbing water from a depth of up to 2.5 meters, the plant has good drought resistance. Lack of moisture can lead to increased nitrogen content in rootstocks, which negatively affects crop quality.
