Description WESTOCHKA
Cucumber variety Westochka is a super-bunchy gherkin hybrid with female flowering type, intended for cultivation in open ground, tunnels, and spring greenhouses. This hybrid features a weak branching type, manifested in short lateral branches called 'bouquet branches', which practically require no pruning. Thanks to this, care for the plants is significantly simplified. Fruit production begins very early — already on the 35-37th day after germination, and the period of mass fruiting lasts 30-40 days, allowing to achieve a record harvest of high quality within a short time. The plants form up to 10 or more fruits at each node, ensuring abundant and prolonged fruiting even under difficult growing conditions. The hybrid is highly cold-resistant and easily withstands short-term frosts, making it universal for various climatic conditions. The cucumbers have an oval-cylindrical shape, 8-10 cm long, ribbed and black-spined, which is characteristic of gherkin cucumbers. Their pickling and taste qualities are at a high level, making this variety especially attractive for pickling and fresh consumption. Moreover, Westochka exhibits resistance to a number of diseases, including olive spot and common cucumber mosaic virus, as well as tolerance to powdery mildew and false powdery mildew. These characteristics ensure stable yields and reduce the need for chemical plant protection. Overall, this hybrid combines high productivity, ease of care, and excellent taste qualities, making it one of the most popular and sought-after cucumber varieties among gardeners and farmers.
