Cucumber variety Waterfall is an early-maturing, bee-pollinated variety intended for cultivation in open ground and spring polytunnels. Plants are climbing, indeterminate, moderately branched, predominantly female-flowering. Harvesting begins approximately 40-45 days after full emergence, allowing for an early yield. The variety is distinguished by high productivity and resistance to several diseases, including true powdery mildew, olive and angular spots, as well as tolerance to brown spot and false powdery mildew.
Fruits of the Waterfall variety have an oval shape, length of 11-13 cm, diameter of 3.5-4 cm, and weight of about 70-80 g. The skin is green with light green stripes and large bumps covered with white down and black spines. Due to genetically fixed absence of bitterness and high flavor quality, cucumbers are versatile: they are ideal for fresh consumption, salad preparation, canning, and pickling. Fruits have a juicy texture and slightly sweet taste.
For successful cultivation of the Waterfall variety, choose sunny areas with well-fertilized, loose soil. The crop has a poorly developed root system, therefore it requires regular feeding with mineral fertilizers and organic matter, including application of phosphorus and potassium even in autumn. Frequent watering promotes formation of juicy and tasty cucumbers. Sowing can be done directly into the soil at soil temperature of +14-+17 °C, or under plastic with sowing into pots to a depth of 1.5 cm.
