Description Asterix F1
Cucumber Asterix F1 is a high-yielding early maturing hybrid of cornichon type, developed by the Dutch breeding company Bejo Zaden. The technical ripening period of the fruits occurs 45-52 days after germination. The plant is strong, with medium growth vigor and a well-developed root system, providing excellent regenerative capacity and resistance to adverse weather conditions. The hybrid is predominantly female-flowering and suitable for cultivation in open ground, under temporary plastic coverings, and in greenhouses.

The Asterix F1 fruits are uniform, small in size (6-9 cm), with a thin, vibrant green skin and moderate spiciness. They have excellent texture, sweet taste, and are genetically free of bitterness, making them ideal for fresh consumption as well as processing — pickling and salting. The cucumbers retain a crisp, firm structure, which is especially valuable for preservation.

The hybrid features a long, synchronized, and abundant fruiting period, ensuring a stable and high yield. It exhibits enhanced resistance to major cucumber diseases such as powdery mildew, cucumber mosaic virus, and cladosporiosis, and is tolerant to peronosporosis. Due to these qualities and adaptation to dry conditions, Asterix F1 is recommended for cultivation in various climatic zones, including arid regions.
