VALAAMS

Valaams cucumber is a super-early, parthenocarpic hybrid with high yield and resistance to adverse weather conditions. The vegetation period is 35-40 days, allowing the first harvest as early as 38 days after germination. The plant has strong growth, with lateral shoots limited in development, forming 3-4 internodes and a cluster of 5-6 fruits. Leaves are large and dark green, indicating good plant development. Valaams cucumbers have a cylindrical shape, 5-6 cm long and 3-3.5 cm in diameter. They are green with blurred whitish stripes covering up to one-third of the fruit, and are covered with a strong waxy coating. The fruit skin is dense and firm, while the flesh is juicy and crisp. Large bumps are sparse, and spines are black. The hybrid is genetically free from bitterness, making it especially attractive for fresh consumption and pickling. Valaams is highly resistant to root rot, false powdery mildew, and sudden temperature changes, ensuring a prolonged fruiting period until stable frosts occur. Suitable for cultivation both in open and protected soil, it demonstrates high cold tolerance and stable yield of 13-14 kg per square meter. Thanks to special triple-hybrid selection using local forms, this variety combines the best qualities of greenhouse and open-field cucumbers, providing excellent taste and pickling characteristics.
