Description

Liliput is an early-maturing parthenocarpic cucumber hybrid that does not require pollination and is characterized by dense fruit set. The fruits are cylindrical or truncated-conical in shape, 7–9 cm long and weighing 80–90 grams. The fruit skin varies from green to dark green with a gradient from the base to the tip, adorned with short white stripes, and the tip has a white hue. The fruit surface is covered with a dense, white-hued down, and the flesh has excellent flavor. Thanks to its compact and attractive fruits, this variety is ideal for making pickles, cornichons, and high-quality canned goods.

The Liliput hybrid boasts high yields—up to 11.5 kg per square meter. Cornichons should be harvested daily, while pickles should be harvested every day. If harvesting is irregular, the fruits become thicker but do not overgrow, do not swell, and do not yellow, making this variety convenient for gardeners with limited time or those who visit their plots irregularly. Suitable for cultivation both in open ground and under temporary plastic coverings, with seedlings sown at the end of April to early May and transplanted into the soil at the end of May to early June.

Liliput is resistant to common cucumber diseases such as olive spot, powdery mildew, and false powdery mildew, as well as root rot. The hybrid is medium-height and tends to form determinate lateral branches, promoting a large number of fruit set—7 to 10 fruits form in each leaf axil. The optimal temperature for seed germination is 25–30 °C. This variety is an excellent choice for those who value high-quality fruits and ease of care.
