ZERNOGRADESKY 242 MV

ZERNOGRADESKY 242 MV is a medium-early complex hybrid of corn (Zea mays L.) intended for cultivation in the Central Chernozem region. The plant has medium height, medium-width leaves, slightly curved, with a small angle between the leaf blade and stem. The tassel has weak anthocyanic coloring of the husk and silk, the main axis of the tassel is higher than the upper lateral branch, and the ear is medium-length — long, weakly conical, with short or medium shank. The kernel is toothed, yellow or yellow-orange in the upper part, with intermediate type, closer to siliceous.

The hybrid exhibits resistance to southern helminthosporiosis, medium level of infection by powdery mildew, and increased susceptibility to stalk rot. The plant is susceptible to bacterial disease and is severely damaged by corn earworm. The average yield of normalized dry matter in the Central Chernozem region is about 136.1 c/ha, exceeding the standard by 6.2 c/ha. Grain yield reaches 94.3 c/ha with moisture around 28.8%, and in the Volga region — 95.2 c/ha with moisture 32.1%.

The vegetation period of the hybrid averages 109–122 days, corresponding to medium-early maturity. ZERNOGRADESKY 242 MV is recommended for cultivation in Kursk Oblast and other areas of the Central Chernozem zone. Its characteristics make it suitable for silage and grain production, ensuring stable yield and adaptation to local climatic conditions.
