The hybrid’s maturity group belongs to early maturing, with a period from emergence to tassel emergence of about 52 days. The plant reaches a height of 180-200 cm, with the lower ear positioned at a height of 65-70 cm. The conical-shaped ear, 20-22 cm long, contains 14-16 rows of kernels, with 36-40 kernels per row. The kernels are tooth-shaped and dark yellow, with a 1000-kernel weight of 240-250 grams, and a grain yield of 78-82%. The hybrid POVOLZHIY 188 MV is distinguished by high yield and adaptability to various climatic conditions. On dry land in favorable years, grain yield may reach up to 80 centners per hectare, and in drought-prone periods, it does not drop below 45 centners per hectare. Green mass yield on dry land is 450-500 centners per hectare, and under irrigation, it increases to 600-800 centners per hectare with a high proportion of ears in silage mass. The variety is resistant to southern helminthosporiosis, moderately affected by bubble head disease, and severely affected by ear fusarium, but is susceptible to bacterial disease and damage by stem borer. POVOLZHIY 188 MV is widely used as a feed crop for livestock and poultry due to its high nutritional content. The hybrid is included in the State Register for the Volga Region of Russia and is recommended for grain cultivation.
