Sugarcane corn hybrid Surmont is a mid-season simple-type hybrid intended for obtaining high-quality grain with high starch content. This hybrid is especially valued for its stable yield and high productivity when grown in commercial plantings, making it a popular choice among farmers across Ukraine. Due to its characteristics, Surmont is ideally suited for animal feed, providing a high grain yield upon threshing — up to 80% — thanks to rapid moisture loss during maturation.
Hybrid Surmont exhibits good resistance to temperature fluctuations, particularly to summer droughts with high temperatures, allowing successful cultivation in various climatic conditions. It responds well to improved soil agrofunds and is suitable for intensive farming, as well as can be grown using minimal or zero tillage techniques. To achieve maximum productivity, it is important to observe optimal sowing dates and plant population rates, which vary depending on the climatic zone: in the Steppe zone — 60-75 thousand plants per hectare, in the Forest-Steppe — 65-80 thousand/ha, and in the Polissia — 80-90 thousand/ha.
