Description SK 179
SK 179 is an early-maturing three-line hybrid corn (Zea mays L.) with FAO 170, primarily intended for grain production. Plants are tall, reaching 240–260 cm in height, with ears 20–25 cm long positioned at a height of 70–75 cm. Grain is intermediate type, closer to flinty, with yellow and yellow-orange coloration on the upper part. Average yield in the Central Chernozem region is approximately 51.3 c/ha. The hybrid is drought-tolerant, making it suitable for cultivation under various climatic conditions. SK 179 exhibits high resistance to diseases: it is resistant to southern helminthosporiosis and bacterial disease, and moderately resistant to smut and ear fusarium. Recommended plant density per hectare is 60 thousand on dry land for grain and silage, and 75 thousand under irrigation. These characteristics ensure stable yield and high productivity of the hybrid. The hybrid is distinguished by good adaptability, cold tolerance, and drought resistance, which contribute to rapid maturity and quick grain moisture release, reducing the need for additional drying. Due to these qualities, SK 179 is suitable for cultivation in various agroclimatic zones and can be used as a preceding crop for winter cereal crops, ensuring stability and high production efficiency.
