Barley Novosadski 294

Serbian breeding for high yields

Spring barley "Novosadski 294" from the IFVCNS (Novi Sad) institute is the result of decades of Serbian breeding aimed at creating adaptive and stable varieties for intensive farming. In the context of a changing climate, this variety has proven itself as a reliable tool for obtaining high-quality grain, demonstrating high plasticity when sown in various soil and climatic zones.

Agronomic portrait and morphology

The plant is a short-growing type of barley with a height of 60–80 cm. Due to its compact size and strong stem, the variety has high resistance to lodging, which is critical for intensive cultivation technologies using mineral fertilizers. The two-row ear is characterized by uniform grain filling, and the weight of 1,000 seeds varies between 40–45 grams, ensuring a high yield of marketable produce.

Protective potential

One of the key features of "Novosadski 294" is its genetically determined immunity to the most dangerous barley pathogens:

• Helminthosporium;
• Net blotch;
• Powdery mildew;
• Dwarf leaf rust.

This resistance profile allows farmers to reduce the pesticide load on fields, which not only optimizes production costs but also contributes to obtaining environmentally safe yields.

Using "Novosadski 294" is justified for farms focused on stability. The variety is not "fussy" about changing tillage technologies, responds well to early sowing dates, and effectively utilizes spring moisture. For professional agronomists, this is a choice for predictable results and high grain quality that meets modern export standards.
