Odessa 385 MV — a tri-lineage modified hybrid corn of medium-maturity type with FAO 380, recommended for cultivation in the steppe soil-climatic zone. The vegetation period from emergence to full maturity is 118-121 days depending on the region, ensuring optimal crop development under southern conditions. Plants reach a height of 210-240 cm, have 12-13 above-ground nodes and 16-17 leaves, promoting strong vegetative mass formation. The ear is conical, positioned at a height of 75-85 cm, ear length 19-20 cm, weight approximately 254 g, with 16-18 rows of kernels and 45 kernels per row. The ear tip is well-filled, indicating high grain quality.
The hybrid is characterized by high drought resistance, heat and sunburn resistance, as well as high cold resistance, making it a reliable choice for cultivation under complex steppe climatic conditions. Odessa 385 MV is resistant to lodging, susceptible to powdery mildew, and tolerant to downy mildew, reducing the risk of yield loss. Corn borer damage does not exceed standard levels, and seeds can be additionally treated with insecticide, fungicide, and growth stimulant to enhance resistance and productivity.
The recommended plant population varies depending on the zone: in the southern steppe zone — 32-35 thousand plants per hectare, in the northern steppe — 38-40 thousand, and in the forest-steppe — 42-50 thousand plants per hectare. The hybrid responds well to moderate planting density but negatively to excessive density. Odessa 385 MV is suitable for grain production with medium yield of 70-75 centners per hectare, as well as for silage use, since in the full maturity phase, leaves and stems remain green. The maximum yield under irrigation can reach 111.6 centners per hectare, highlighting its high productivity potential.
