Okato

The Okato corn hybrid is a simple mid-early hybrid designed for high grain yield. It belongs to the maturity group with FAO 240 and is characterized by orange, flinty-milled kernels. The 1000-kernel weight ranges from 280 to 340 grams, indicating large, high-quality seeds. Plants reach heights of 270 to 310 cm, with ear attachment height of 90–100 cm. The ear measures 19–22 cm in length and 4–5 cm in diameter, with 14–16 rows and 28–34 kernels per row, ensuring abundant kernel formation — 400 to 540 kernels per ear. The Okato hybrid exhibits high resistance to adverse conditions, including cold tolerance, drought resistance, and lodging resistance. This makes it a reliable choice for cultivation in various climatic zones, including Ukraine. Plants have strong early growth and tolerate dense planting, enabling efficient land use and increased yields. The recommended plant density at harvest is 70–75 thousand plants per hectare in the forest-steppe zone and 80–85 thousand per hectare in the Polissia region. The Okato hybrid’s yield potential reaches 13–14 tons of grain per hectare, confirming its high productivity and stability. Due to its characteristics, this hybrid is suitable for cultivation both for grain and silage, offering versatility. High yield, stress resistance, and superior grain quality make Okato an attractive choice for farmers seeking maximum return from corn cultivation.
